Peer Review Policy

AION Linguistica follows a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to maintain the academic quality, originality, and scholarly integrity of the research it publishes. The journal is committed to ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated fairly, objectively, and consistently by qualified reviewers with appropriate expertise in the subject area of the submitted work.

Initial Editorial Assessment

All manuscripts submitted to AION Linguistica undergo an initial editorial screening before being sent for peer review. The editorial team assesses each submission for its relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, academic quality, methodological soundness, clarity of presentation, ethical compliance, and adherence to the journal’s submission requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic editorial or scholarly standards may be declined at this stage.

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial editorial assessment are normally sent to independent experts for peer review. The journal generally follows a double-anonymized peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are not disclosed to one another during the review process. Reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise, research experience, subject knowledge, and familiarity with the relevant field.

Reviewers are requested to evaluate the manuscript objectively and provide constructive comments regarding its originality, significance, theoretical foundation, methodology, analysis, interpretation of results, organization, use of literature, and overall contribution to the field. Reviewers may recommend acceptance, acceptance subject to minor revisions, major revisions, or rejection. The final editorial decision is made by the journal’s editorial team after considering the reviewers’ comments and the overall quality and suitability of the manuscript.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers should maintain confidentiality regarding all materials received during the review process. They should not use, reproduce, distribute, or disclose unpublished information from a manuscript for personal or professional purposes. Reviewers should provide impartial, evidence-based, and constructive assessments and should identify any substantial concerns relating to methodology, interpretation, originality, citations, or academic integrity.

Reviewers should disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest that could affect their objectivity. They should decline the review if they have a personal, professional, institutional, financial, or other relationship with the authors or manuscript that may compromise independent evaluation. Reviewers should also inform the editorial team if they identify substantial similarity between the submitted manuscript and another published or unpublished work.

Editorial Decisions

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor may make one of several decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Where revisions are requested, authors are expected to respond carefully to reviewer comments and provide a revised manuscript within the timeframe communicated by the editorial office. A revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers for further assessment when appropriate.

The journal reserves the right to seek additional reviews or editorial opinions where reviewer reports are substantially conflicting, where specialist expertise is required, or where ethical or methodological concerns require further assessment.

Independence and Fairness

The peer-review process is conducted independently of personal characteristics, institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, academic seniority, or other irrelevant considerations. Editorial decisions are based primarily on the scholarly quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution of the manuscript.

Confidentiality and Research Integrity

All manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers are expected to protect the confidentiality of submitted research. Any concerns relating to plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated or falsified data, inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other forms of academic misconduct may be investigated in accordance with appropriate scholarly publishing standards.

Post-Publication Concerns

AION Linguistica recognizes that scholarly evaluation may continue after publication. Where credible concerns arise regarding a published article, the journal may investigate the matter and, where necessary, issue a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with established principles of publication ethics.
